Stod wasserfall

The Stod wasserfall is a 42 meter high waterfall north of the Achensee in Achenkirch in the region Tirol, Austria.

From Achenkirch it is a short walk to the Stod wasserfall. You can park your car at the “wanderplatz parking” (gps 47.499808, 11.702042). I am not sure if you can park your car here for free, probably you have to pay. From here walk back to the road (to the north) and then go left. Here a small road leads into the Oberautal (there are marks for Oberautal). After the last farm and the Stod chapel you will see the Stod wasserfall at the right of the road. The walk takes about 15 minutes.

In the summer of 2024 we had a four night stay in Achenkirch and it is also possible to start from the “Spar” supermarket. Here you can park your car for free and the walk takes only a few minutes longer. From the Spar take the left road (to the south west) and follow the markings for “Oberautal”.

The Stod wasserfall is located along the path and from a height of 42 meter the Stod waterfall cascades down over 5 stages. A few horses where standing at the path enjoying the surrounding and the waterfall. The sun was shining and late in the afternoon the Stod wasserfall was already lying in the shade. The water flow wasn’t that big although it was a wet summer. Nevertheless it is still a beautiful photogenic waterfall, easy to reach and perfect for a short walk with children. They can play at the water and there is a bench where you can rest and/or can picnic.

Best time to visit the Stod wasserfall is early summer, maybe late spring, at the beginning of the afternoon. The Stod wasserfall is 42 meters high and falls towards the south.

There is another nice waterfall in Achenkirch that is easy to reach: the Kranz wasserfall, maybe even more beautiful.
