Sigoldufoss
(Sigöldufoss)
Sigoldufoss or Sigöldufoss is a nice waterfall in the south of Iceland. Sigoldufoss is a 10 meter high waterfall in the river Tungnaá. In 1981 a power station was built not far from the fall with a capacity of 210,000 kW. Therefore the flow of the water in the river Tungnaá can be low.
Sigoldufoss is located along road 208 at Krókslón, near the golden circle. Driving east on road 26 you have to take road 208 to the south after Hrauneyjalón. After 5 kilometers you can see Sigoldufoss at the left side of the road when crossing the river Tungnaá.
Northwest of Sigoldufoss, in the river Tungnaá, you will find another beautiful waterfall: Hrauneyjafoss. By road it is about 10 kilometers back to road 26, going to the west.
