Schaftobelfall
The Schaftobelfall is a gorgeous 63 meter high single drop waterfall near Alvaneu, south of Chur in the region Graubünden, Switzerland.
The Schaftobelfall is easy to reach. From Chur drive south to Albula/Alvra (road 3) and then take the exit to the Albulapass and Davos. At a green sign Badezentrum/Golfclub go right and keep right. Park the car at the end of the parking (gps 46.668817, 9.648699).
Walk towards the river, there is a pedestrian bridge. Go right after crossing the river and follow the river for 100 meter. At the left there must be a path going into the woodland (just before the wooden bridge over the river Schaftobelbach). The path goes slightly up but further down the path is more steep. Keep right until the path ends at the Schaftobelfall. The walk takes 10-15 minutes.
Most time of the year the Schaftobelfall is quite powerful. The river Schaftobelbach ia a tribute of the river Albula that feeds the famous river Rhein.
There are several other nice waterfalls but one of the nicest is the waterfall Bärentritt at Wiesen when driving towards Davos.
