Ratera, Cascada de
Cascada de Ratera is a waterfall near Espot (Parque Nacional de Aiguestortes) in the region Catalunya, Spain.
The village of Espot is located near road C13/C-128 between Sort and Vielha.
In Espot there are two thing you can do:
1. Buy a ticket (€10,50 roundtrip) at the information office for a drive with a SUV to lake “Estany de Sant Maurici”. From here it ia 1.2 kilometer walk (30 minutes) to the base of Cascada de Ratera. There are signs for the waterfall. The area is very beautiful and I am sure you want the explore the area and enjoy the nature.
2. Drive to a parking 6 kilometer from Cascada de Ratera. In the village of Espot you have to follow the sign to “Parking Llac Sant Maurici”. The walk from the parking takes appr. 75 minutes to the base of Cascada de Ratera.
From lake Estany de Sant Maurici you can walk on the SUV road up to the top of the waterfall near the lake Estany de Ratera and then descent to the bottom. Maybe nicer is to walk on a track that is close to the lake going up along the river.
Cascada de Ratera drops down over appr 50 meter from the lake Estany de Ratera. Best time to visit Cascada de Ratera is late spring or early summer when a lot of snow is melting and the waterfall is powerful.
