Palia Kavala
(Kavala waterfalls, Palea Kavala)
The Kavala waterfalls (Pailia Kavala or Palea Kavala) are a gorgeous set of waterfalls 15 km north of Kavala in Greece. From the town of Kavala the waterfalls are easy to reach in a 20 minute drive.
Take road 12 to the north to Amigdaleonas and a little further take the exit right at the BP gasstation in the direction of Zygos. Take the exit to Palea Kavala and look for a small dust road going right (after appr. 300 meter). Drive onto to a marble quarry. Park the car here. From there, a nice hiking trail leads up the hill until you reach the Kavala waterfall in 30 minutes.
I only rate the waterfall with two stars because it can dry out in summertime. Best time to visit the Kavala waterfalls (Pailia Kavala or Palea Kavala) is after rainfall.
