Gjallandi

Gjallandi is a 6 meter high waterfall in the centre of Iceland (Hálendið).

From the north of Iceland road F26 (Sprengisandsleið) runs to through the centre of Iceland. The road is open in summertime but a 4WD car is a must. South of the lake Fjórðungsvatn a small dust road (gps 64.773100, -18.019679) is going east in the direction of Gjallandi. From there it is still a 30-40 kilomter drive to the river Skjálfandafljót.

Although Gjallandi is only 6 meter high it is an impressive waterfall with a wide of appr 30 meter with a single waterfall (another river) at the left of Gjallandi. A nice place for beautiful pictures.
