Ffrwd Fawr waterfall

Ffrwd Fawr is a 40 meter high waterfall near Dylife (Powys) in Wales, United Kingdom. When visiting Wales in the summer of 2023 I totally missed this waterfall.

A viewpoint on Ffrwd Fawr waterfall is easy to reach. The waterfall is located near Dylife (when going from Machynlleth to Staylittle). East of Dylife, at the top of the Ffrwd Fawr waterfall, there is a small parkimng (52.531616, -3.662113). You don’t have a clear view here but maybe you can see a glimpse of the waterfall. The views on the Dylife gorge are amazing. You have to walk down the road (east towards Staylittle) until you see a path going left. There is a small sign Llwybr Cyhoeddus.

After a short while The waterfall is then visible in the distance, on your left. Stay left until you have the best views on this amazing waterfall. I have seen pictures of a second drop, downstream in the river Afon Twymyn.

Probably it is also possible to walk to the base of Ffrwd Fawr. There are pictures of it, but there is no official trail. 

If you walk further down the trail you will see a second (lowstream) waterfall, the Nant Deilliog waterfall.
