Eltunsfossen
Eltunsfossen is a mighty waterfall in the hamlet Øye, Vang in the region Oppland, Norway.
Driving from Vang to Borgung (road E16) Eltunsfossen is hard to miss. Left of the Øye stavkirke a big waterfall shows up. The river Rødøla plunges down over more then 200 meter where the lower part is 75 meter high.
From a distance (coming from Vang) you also see the upper part of Eltunsfossen. When I was in the area of Vang, July 2017 , there was still some snow lying on the mountains above the waterfall.
Beste time to visit Eltunsfossen is early summer, in the morning, when a lot of snow is melting to the many lakes at the source of the river Rødøla.
