Cascate di Saent
Cascate di Saent is one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Italy and is located near Piazzola (Val di Rabbi) in the region Trentino – Alto Adige, Italy.
From the city of Trente it is a 70 km drive north/northwest to Tassullo and then into Val di Rabbi. Just follow the road to the end of the valley to Coler. There is a big parking (Fontanelle at gps 46.41698, 10.77668) and an information board. There are two trails going to Cascate di Saent. The common route is by crossing the bridge over the river Rabbi. The trail goes along the tavern “Al Fontantin” and further on to the Malga Stablasolo mountain hut (1.560 m). Follow the signs for the waterfall.
It is a 3.7 km walk to the lower part of Cascate di Saent with an ascent of appr. 400 meter. Count on a roundtrip of 3.5 hours.
Cascate di Saent is definitely one of the jewels of this narrow valley that lies near the most famous Valley Val di Sole. The river Rabbi cascades down over several stages. I think the total height could be over 170 meters. The upper part of the fall is about 70 meters in total and the lower part seems the same height.
At the end of the valley you will find several mountain peaks above 3.000 meters like Cima di Saent. Here is the source of the river Rabbi that feeds this big waterfall, Cascate di Saent. Best time to visit Cascate di Saent is early summer or summer at warm weather.
There are many other waterfalls in the region of Trento but the waterfalls in Valle Genova are amazing, certainly the first waterfall you meet; Cascate di Nardis.
