Cascade de Dormillouse

Cascade de Dormillouse is a series of cascades with two big steps. Cascade de Dormillouse is located at the end of road D238 near Freissinières in the region Haute Alpes, France.

From Briancon drive south on road d94 and take the exit “Freissinières – D38”. Drive in the direction of Freissinières but stay on the D38B>D238 to Les Mensals. After Les Mensals the road ends at a parking.

From the parking it is a short walk to Cascade de Dormillouse. There are two trails going up along the waterfall and you can make a roundtrip. If you don’t want to make a steep hike I don’t know for sure where the view is better. Probably when you take the trail at the left side of the river it has a good view after two hundred meters.

The river Torrent de Chichin plunges down in a narrow gorge over 80 meters with an almost single drop of 25 meters.
