Cascata do Córrego da Furna

Cascata do Córrego da Furna is one of the many waterfalls along the north coast of Madeira, Portugal. This waterfall is located along road ER101 between São Vicente and Seixal.

When driving from São Vicente to Seixal you first will see Cascata Água d’Alto, just before the first tunnel. After the third tunnel you will see two waterfalls, from which Cascata do Córrego da Furna is one of them. There is a parking right in front of the waterfall (gps 32.814979, -17.079622).

You have to walk along the road to see more of the waterfall (be careful!). A little back you even see a taller waterfall coming down, just outside the tunnel. The volume wasn’t very high when we visited both waterfalls Oktober 2023, but they where still nice to see. I think Cascata do Córrego da Furna has a single drop of 60 meter but I suspect more drops we can’t see, more upstream.

There are several tall waterfalls along road ER101 at the north coast of Madeira. I think this day (exploring the north of Madeira) we saw more than 10 waterfalls on one day! One you don’t have to miss is a waterfall falling directly into the ocean: Cascata Miradouro Véu da NoivaCascata Miradouro Véu da Noiva.
I certainly want to go back in a wet period when waterfalls are more powerful and more impressive.
