Stalheimsfossen
Stalheimsfossen is one of the most beautiful waterfalls of Norway located north of the village Voss in the region Hordaland.
One of the things you have to do when staying near Voss is to visit the hotel at Stalheim. To go there take road 16 to Gudvangen and take the exit (Stalheimsvegen) to the Stalheim hotel before entering the Tunnel. At the top you will have a good view on the surrounding and on the Kjelfossen in the distance. It is quite touristic (shop in the hotel) but nice to see. There is also an open air museum, the Stalheim Folk Museum, open for public (entrance fee!).
Unfortunately the Stalheimskleiva is closed for cars due to safety reasons!

When driving down the famous Stalheimskleiva (Tip!), a road with so many curves, you will have a good view on Stalheimsfossen and Sivlefossen. It can be very crowded with cars and busses, with any luck you can stop at a pocket to admire the beautiful Sivlefossen.
At the first curve of the Stalheimskleiva you will have a nice view on Stalheimsfossen. There is an official viewpoint from where you can see Stalheimsfossen. Only thing is that there are trees in the way. After the next curve in the road you will have a better view on Stalheimsfossen. From now on at every curve, when going down, you either see Stalheimsfossen and Sivlefossen.

At the end of the Stalheimskleiva it is also possible to visit the so powerful Stalheimsfossen waterfall. At the end of the Stalheimskleiva there is a parking lot, just after the river crossing and before entering road 16. Park the car and walk along the river (5 minutes-900 meters) until you see the impressive Stalheimsfossen. Here you walk through a surrounding that makes you think you are in a fairytale. Mountainsides are covered with many colors of moss and the big rocks looks like gigantic stone creatures. Before you will now you will hear the thundering sound of the waterfall Stalheimsfossen.
There is a platform from which you can take pictures, photographing towards the south-southwest. You will also have a good view from the big rocks in the river or from the path when walking to the platform.
Stalheimfossen is an extremely powerful waterfall in the river Nærøydalselvi. The water thunders down with great force over 124 meters (measures with a laser height meter). It isn’t always the height that makes the fall, but this time it is the power of an unspoiled waterfall.
Best time to visit the Stalheimsfossen in June-early July when the melted snow is responsible for a swelling river and a thundering Stalheimsfossen. The first six pictures of the Stalheimsfossen are taken in June-July and the last pictures are taken on May 4th 2015. You can see the difference in volume.
Stalheimsfossen is one of my favorite waterfall in Norway and a must to visit.
Beside the Sivlefossen there are many other great waterfalls nearby: Kjelfossen, Brekkefossen, Rjoandefossen, Kjosfossen, Kardalsfossen, Tunnshello, Myrdalsfossen, Tvinnefossen, Skjervefossen, Skarvefossen. and all the waterfalls in the Naeroyfjorden and Aurlandsfjorden. To many to mention them all.
The Stalheimskleiva road is not open for cars anymore sadly. There is a tunnel now without any view
